ARTIST STATEMENT
Unburdened is an immersive photo and prose exhibition that invites viewers into the private, often unseen, moments of Black men at rest.
Through portraiture and intimate writing, the show offers a counter-narrative to the weight Black men are expected to carry, one where rest is not just deserved, but sacred.
The project began as a quiet observation: the beauty of watching someone you love sleep. That observation grew into a radical question: What if Black men were allowed to lay their burdens down—without question, without condition?

Unburdened: A Visual and Written Reflection on Black Rest
Unburdened is more than an exhibition, it’s now a book!
This intimate collection of prose, reflection, and portraiture captures the radical beauty of Black men at rest.
What began as a visual exploration has transformed into something you can hold: a quiet, powerful invitation to witness softness, stillness, and selfhood without performance.
